Update at 12:13 p.m. ET on July 21: all three shows are now sold out.
It’s true. After more than 10 years on the air, CBC Radio 2's The Signal is hanging up the headphones, folding up the liner notes, and saying a final “have a great night” to Signalites across the country. The show will continue at its regular time through the summer, with the final episode airing on Saturday, Sept. 2.
In August, watch for our announcement of a new show that will continue The Signal's atmospheric mix of electronica, contemporary pop, and cross-genre experimental fare, Monday to Saturday from 10 p.m. to midnight.
But The Signal is not done quite yet. In fact, we’ll be hitting the road for a Canadian tour — a Signal victory lap — in August. And we’re hoping you might join us to help celebrate a great run.
Laurie Brown will be spinning tracks and spinning yarns live on stage at CBC Vancouver on Aug. 15, CBC Toronto on Aug. 16, and CBC Montreal on Aug. 17. The events will also feature video projections and live sound design from Signal producer Andy Sheppard. Each live show will be recorded to be included in the final Signal broadcast.
So, come out and say hi to Laurie, listen to some great music, hear some wonderful stories, and share your favourite grilled cheese recipes with your fellow Signalites. Hope to see you there!
