Smithers, B.C. musician, Alex Cuba, is on a roll. A few months ago, his 2015 album Healer won a Latin Grammy -- his third! On Feb. 15th, Cuba will head down to Los Angeles to see if he nabs a Grammy award for best Latin pop album and word is just out that Healer has been nominated for a Juno. If it wins, it would be Cuba's third Juno.
With this album, Cuba continues the Cuban-Canadian musical odyssey that began back in Artemisia, Cuba where his father is a revered music teacher. As usual, Healer includes tracks in Spanish alongside English, as well as Latin riffs next to pop hooks. You'll also hear Cuba perform duets with Ron Sexsmith, David Myles, Kuba Oms and Alejandra Ribera.
But were does Cuba find his own musical inspiration? Listen to My Playlist to find out.
