Country singer Leah Daniels teaches you how to yodel

By
Del Cowie

On Aug. 14, Leah Daniels will be appearing on Big Country with Rudy Blair, a new weekly country show on CBC Radio 2 that profiles Canadian country musicians through their personal playlists. Daniels, an Uxbridge, Ontario-based singer, is known for her hit single "Go Back."

Recently, she covered Adele's megahit "Hello," and the latest single from her 2015 album, What It Feels Like ,is "Your Kiss Is Killing Me."

Daniels recently sat down with CBC Music to demonstrate and explain the basic approach on how to yodel, a talent she picked up from her grandfather.

"So what yodelling is basically, is singing between your chest voice and your high voice," Daniels explains. She stresses that it takes a lot of practice and can lead you to make a number of strange noises.

"The biggest thing to remember is: relax," says Daniels.
