It’s been a very exciting year for Toronto band, Weaves. The band, whose off-kilter guitar-driven pop sound grabbed the attention of The New York Times, NPR and Rolling Stone, released their highly anticipated debut self-titled album back in June and have been busy on the road ever since. On the heels of yet another leg of tour dates, with fellow Toronto rockers Dilly Dally, Weaves has released a cover of the Beatles’ 1965 song, “Help!”
“We recorded this when I was feeling a little bit of heartbreak and just stuck in a slump and the song really spoke to me,” Weaves singer Jasmyn Burke said in a press release. “I asked [guitarist Morgan Waters] if he’d be into trying to cover it so we spent a couple hours one day recording it in his little spare room studio. Like most people we love the Beatles, and I felt like those lyrics were living inside of me at the time so I wanted to try and personalize it. It was a really fun experience and, I think an interesting experiment.”
