Big Country with Rudy Blair, featuring Jason McCoy

By
Carole Warren

In 1995, Jason McCoy released his self-titled breakthrough album and found himself sitting at the top of the charts with three singles from the disc. It was the beginning of the road to making McCoy a Canadian country music heavy weight.

As a solo artist, McCoy has released seven albums going back more than 25 years. He's won the CCMA award for male artist of the year, twice! McCoy has also received five Juno nominations and won Nashville's global artist award. In 2005, McCoy made his Grand Ole Opry debut and released an album with his new bandmates in the Road Hammers

Those Road Hammer wheels had traction! Four singles from their debut album made it to the top 10 charts. The group also won the CCMA award for group of the year two years in a row. And they earned a Juno for best country recording. That success was followed by a reality show, non-stop touring, more albums, a breakup of the band and thankfully, a reunion.

McCoy and the Road Hammers' latest album is called Wheels and continuing in their fine tradition -- the band is up again for best group at this year's CCMA awards.

On this edition of Big Country with Rudy Blair, Jason McCoy shares the music that inspires him.
