Learn to read sheet music from someone who knows nothing about it

By
Robert Rowat

Julian Cianciolo, the man behind such YouTube classics (not really) as "Schoolyard Mafia" and "Pizzaman," has turned his attention to something closer to home for musicians: a how-to video on reading music notation.

Cianciolo's "How to read sheet music" has the production values of a legit crash course: nice graphics and a narrator who probably moonlights on relaxation podcasts. But those things just make the overall effect of the video that much funnier.

Cianciolo calls the video "a helpful guide created by an unqualified individual." In fact, it's an unhelpful guide by someone who's clearly qualified to make us see the ridiculous side of our familiar language for notating music.
