Matt Andersen has been called “a storyteller trapped in a bluesman's body” and that makes sense. He has a big no-holds-barred bluesy voice. He’s also a skilled guitarist and an over-the-top showman with a strong work ethic. It’s not unusual to see him play upwards of 200 concerts a year. He’s released nine albums in nine years, including two with harmonica great Mike Stevens.
Andersen's roots are still firmly placed in his hometown of Perth-Andover, NB, population 1,778. You hear it in the songs he writes: songs about lives full of hard, physical work; from the everyday struggles to life-changing events. And while he’s quick to say he’s not strictly a blues player, more a combination of blues, roots and rock, Andersen can sure sing the blues.
Andersen's latest album is called Honest Man.
