2016 is a year that a number of people would just as soon like to write off the books. Simply put, it was terrible. Politically, socially and, in a way, musically. Every year we lose a number of musicians but this year — this cruel, unfunny joke that we call 2016 — seemed to take a heaping handful of the notable ones. Starting with Natalie Cole getting snatched from us on New Year's Eve of 2015. Then David Bowie, and Maurice White, Pierre Boulez, Phife Dawg, Prince, Miss Sharon Jones and far too many more.
Before we put 2016 in the bin and begin the hard and necessary work of being better people in 2017, take a moment and look back at the ones we lost. Raise a glass and maybe spin a track or two.
