Yes, this is an actual day. Celebrated annually on March 23 since 2006, it was founded by Colleen Paige, author of The Good Behavior Book for Dogs: The Most Annoying Dog Behaviors... Solved!. Besides wanting to celebrate the pure magic, love and joy that puppies bring, Paige also created the day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills.
While there are no congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day, even lawmakers in some parts of the world have joined in to celebrate.
Now in its 11th year, it’s a day that lights up the internet with more cuteness than can be handled. So in honour of our little four-legged friends, here’s a playlist to celebrate, featuring songs about dogs.
