The Canadian Country Music Association Awards are right around the corner, and country music fans aren't the only ones excited about the industry's biggest night, held this year on Sept. 10 in Saskatoon, Sask.

Artists High Valley, Dallas Smith, Dean Brody, Tim Hicks and Madeline Merlo are also looking forward to the weekend, and in talking to them, we found out why: the CCMA Awards are one big family reunion with fellow artists, fans and friends.

"I think country music is all about family and values and kindess and there's no place for ego in country music and that really is true in that community," said Madeline Merlo, who's nominated for female artist of the year.

Aside from the excitement that comes from performing at the 2017 CCMA Awards — as well as being nominated for three awards — brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel of High Valley are looking forward to seeing their country music friends. "We're really going to enjoy the time and honestly, Dallas Smith, Dean Brody, Paul Brandt and some of our friends being there and just getting to hang out with them. It's like a psuedo family reunion pretty much," said Brad Rempel.

In the video below, High Valley, Tim Hicks, Dallas Smith, Dean Brody and Merlo share which family member they think they would play at a CCMA Awards dinner table.
