The Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Manulife Competition is one of Canada's most prestigious. Each year's competition focuses on specific categories of instruments. The 2016 competition will see young Canadian string players vying for a range of prizes — as well as young organists, for the first time in the competition's history.
Prizes include cash scholarships, performance opportunities, and a recording session for broadcast on ICI Musique for the grand prize winner. The jury includes luminaries like Tafelmusik's Jeanne Lamon and the organist of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, Olivier Latry.
The semifinals and finals of the competition will be livestreamed on the OSM's YouTube channel, from November 23 to 26. Here's a handy compilation of all of the livestreams in one place, with a detailed schedule and information on when each of them will appear (all times ET).
