Star cellist Yo-Yo Ma gave a surprise performance in the Montreal Metro this weekend. Over 300 people were lucky enough to hear him at Place des Arts Metro station.
After performing the Prelude from J.S. Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1, he invited the crowd to sing along to a moving rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."
The performance was part of Ma’s Bach Project that has him hosting special events in 36 cities around the world. While in Montreal, he participated in a discussion on the intersections between art and artificial intelligence and a film screening on Indigenous voices in Canada. He also performed a sold-out recital at the Maison symphonique.
