Pegi Young, singer-songwriter and ex-wife of Canadian icon Neil Young, died on Jan. 1 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Her family confirmed the news last week on social media, writing that she "passed away surrounded by her friends and family in her native California."
Although Neil didn't release an immediate statement, he has since written and posted a tribute to his wife of 36 years on his Neil Young Archives website.
In a post titled "Such a Woman: Pegi Young 1952-2019," Neil penned a short but loving letter thanking Pegi for "being such a wonderful mother to our children." In the post, he includes lyrics from his 1992 song, "Such a Woman," which was inspired by Pegi.

You are such a woman to me
And I love you
Our love will live
Until the end of all time
No one else can kill me like you do
No one else can fill me like you do
And no, no one else can feel our pain
Love is a healer
And I love you
No one else can fill me like you do
No one else can kill me like you do
And I love you
You are such a woman to me

Thanks Pegi, for being such a wonderful mother to our children. You live inside of them and the many you have touched. 01-05-19
