Since it formed in 1993, Gryphon Trio has been at the forefront of Canada's classical music scene.
Comprising Annalee Patipatanakoon (violin), Roman Borys (cello) and Jamie Parker (piano), the Gryphon Trio has a discography of 17 albums, which have earned the group nine Juno Award nominations, including wins for Canadian Premieres (2004) and Beethoven Piano Trios (2011). Over the years, more than 50 composers — predominantly Canadian — have been commissioned to write new works for the Gryphon Trio.
This season, Patipatanakoon, Borys and Parker are busy celebrating their silver anniversary with a whole series of concerts. In December, following their concert for Music Toronto at Jane Mallett Theatre, we invited them to CBC's Glenn Gould Studio to play some classics for us: Mozart, Haydn and Piazzolla. Watch below:
