Soprano Angel Blue is one of two sopranos — the other is Miriam Khalil — cast as Mimì in the Canadian Opera Company's upcoming production of Puccini's La bohème, opening April 17 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto.

With rehearsals underway, the COC has shared a video from Blue's run-through of Mimì's Act 1 aria, "Si, mi chiamano Mimì," accompanied on piano by Ben Malensek. It's beautiful, and when she sings "Ma quando vien lo sgelo, il primo sole è mio!" ("When the spring thaw comes, the first sun will be mine!"), it will warm your sun-starved Canadian heart.
